Introducing the Klippan car seat brand

Klippan is a brand of Finnish origin that emerged from the company Ky K.Hartwall Ab, founded in 1932. The company was later taken over by the Klippan Safety Ab Group and renamed Oy Klippan Ab. Within the group, the brand currently produces and tests child restraint systems, seat belts, ambulance accessories and other accessories related to the automotive industry.

The safety culture in the Scandinavian countries is very different from ours in France. Both residents and politicians place great emphasis on developing and adapting new driving habits in order to reduce the number of accidents on the roads and thus the number of injuries and fatalities. The latest European recommendations are based on Scandinavian practices in the field of child safety.

History of the Klippan brand

The first Klippan car seat was designed in 1967, the Klippan Barnstol. At the time, the brand was pioneering a new advance in road safety for children, namely rear-facing. Klippan went on to market its car seat in Finland.

Premier klippan

In 1989, the company created its own crash test line to test its own car seats in a variety of circumstances, including side impact tests and restraint tests in accordance with the R44/04 standard. Thanks to these numerous tests, Klippan has continued to design and develop new car seat models, for safe back-to-back journeys for children.

The brand, which previously produced its seats under Akta/Graco licences, is continuing to develop and now offers seats with a sober, highly functional design that are among the safest in the world:

- The Kiss, designed in 2006

- Triofix, in 2011

- Dinofix, in 2012

- The Wego, in 2015

- The Century, in 2017

- The Opti129, in 2019

- The CarGo and the Wego 2, in 2024

In 2012, the Dinofix-Triofix system won the Barnochbaby prize in Sweden for the innovative creation of a single base for two car seats.

By 2016, Klippan was exporting its car seats to 25 different countries.

Today, the company has been manufacturing rear-facing child restraint systems for over 50 years. After all these years, they have retained the same guiding principle: to design strong, safe car seats for children from birth up to 36 kg.

All the design and production processes are mastered and validated by strict controls and tests in their own crash test centre. As a result, the entire Klippan range is classified as highly safe. The Kiss 2 Plus and Opti129 have both been awarded the Plus Test (crash-test considered to be the most rigorous in the world).
