According to R129 certification, children should travel with their backs to the road until they are at least 15 months old, to ensure better protection in the event of an accident. In a frontal impact, the child's body is pushed to the bottom of the seat instead of being propelled forward. This protects the head, neck and spine, which are strongest from the age of 4.
As a specialist in extended rearward-facing car seats, we recommend that you allow your children to travel with their backs to the road for as long as possible, ideally up to the age of 4, as in Scandinavian countries. In the event of a collision, the risk of serious injury is 5 times lower for a child in a rear-facing car seat than in a forward-facing seat.
The Britax Römer Max-safe Pro car seat can be used rear-facing from 61 to 125 cm (i.e. from 9 months to around 7 years).

Installation avec la ceinture de sécurité
- Use the Tether Straps supplied with your car seat and tie a knot on each side of the front seat rails.
- Place the car seat in the vehicle with its back to the road.
- Raise the ClickTight lever on the underside of the car seat shell and pass the seat belt through the slots at the bottom of the car seat shell, then fasten the seat belt.
- Lower the ClickTight lever. The seatbelt will automatically tighten.
- Extend the strut and make sure it engages securely.
- Unroll the 2 retractable straps at the back of the car seat and hook them over the Tether Straps rings. The straps will automatically tighten.
- Install the SICT (side protection) on the side of the car seat closest to the vehicle door.
